Sister Whittaker’s 7th Week at the MTC

July 10, 2014

week_7_mtcJo napot friends and family!
The week has just flown by and I leave in 11 days. I am beyond excited to get out into the field and to start bringing the Hungarians to Christ. It has been wonderful week, and the language is getting better and better each day. Speaking of languages, we started consecration week where for a whole week we can’t speak any English, just straight Hungarian. It has been hard, and at times frustrating but it gets me prepared and ready.
My 4th of July was wonderful. Thank you mom for all the wonderful treats and decor which everyone loved from my district. We had an incredible devotional, followed by beautiful musical performances from other missionaries. They then surprised us with a movie – 17 Miracles. If you haven’t seen it, I definitely recommend it. Also, get a box of tissues ready because it’s a crier. They then had another surprise after full of ice cream bars and fireworks. What a night! We all ran outside in time for the fireworks from the stadium to go off and it was wonderful. I sat there in awe of what a perfect night it was with the air, the people around me and an incredible holiday to celebrate. I have never felt so grateful. I am so proud to be an American. MERICA!
We had two amazing devotionals this week! On Sunday we were able to hear from Josh Wright. What a champion! He is a professional pianist and when he plays, you are absolutely mesmerized. He played 4 songs for us and each one touched me in some way. We also had the privilege to hear from Elder Neil. Anderson. He spoke about the spirit and ways to heed to its promptings. Recently, I have been so caught up on how I can learn the whisperings of the spirit. He mentioned in his talk that Virtue is everything. You don’t have to learn how the spirit works as long as you are living your life pure and good and then the spirit will just flown in.
At the MTC they have “real” investigators walk around campus to help the English missionaries get practice. Well, last week my companions and I were walking back to our apartment and a man by the name of Dominic stops us and starts talking to us. He is the sweetest thing in the world. We then got talking to him about his life and he asked if he could see us again. Well, of course we said YES! Today we had the opportunity to each Dominic and wow, it was incredible. I didn’t mentioned that Dominic is a non-member. A REAL non-member. He told us that last night his wife had a dream where she was in Hungary and she was in a room with three sisters. God really does work in mysterious ways.
I have seen the hand of God this week then ever before. As we are getting ready to leave I am so full of excitement and nervousness. I know that Heavenly Father will be with me the whole way. He will never leave, but rather pick me up when It gets too hard. I love this gospel with all my heart. I know it is true and that God and His son, Jesus Christ live.
I hope you all have a wonderful week. Be safe and enjoy the life God has given you. Life is so precious and beautiful.
All my love, Whittaker Nover
