Sister Whittaker’s 68th Week

It was a great week here in Kecskemét. We had so many miracles. One of our old investigators who we felt fell off the earth and we didn’t hear from her for a couple weeks finally answered her phone and is wanting to meet again. God has been hearing our prayers and they were answered.

We went to Szeged this week to split with the sisters. It was great to be back in my old city, meeting with some of my old investigators that I had taught. While we were walking through the city I look ahead and see Sue, who I had taught in Szeged. She ran up and gave me the biggest hug. On splits, we saw all kinds of miracles. We got 2 let ins and 5 numbers from off the street. Who knew you could have so much fun doing missionary work and still work hard.

We went up to Buda for a leadership conference and Elder Leimer from the quorum of the 70 came to speak to us. It was exactly what I needed to hear this week. He talked a lot about who we represent as missionaries. We represent God, not other missionaries. Sometimes we fear what man would think, but rather we should fear what God would think. He gave a wonderful example of our Savior, Jesus Christ who raised the dead, caused the blind to see and healed the sick. He was subjected to all things and he didn’t care to be liked or to please others. He taught His gospel with love and He knew His purpose.

I love my Savior. I love this gospel and I wouldn’t rather be anywhere else than in beautiful Hungary. The gospel changes lives and it has changed mine. I hope you all have a great week.
All my love, Whittaker Nővér

Sister Whittaker’s 66th Week

September 7, 2015

Sziasztok Testvéreim,

It has been a week full of miracles, splits, doggings, rakókrumpli, more rakókrumpli and a little bit of heartbreak. Starting off with the good news, we went on splits this week with the Pécsi sisters, Sister Widtfelt and Sister Levenan. We had all kinds of fun, a day full of programs, getting ice cream breaks and even getting a let in while tracting. Sister Sholly and I found new people off the street and set up a few programs for this next week. We are so blessed here in Kecskemét. Now, for the sad news. Our family who had a baptism date this coming month called us and told us they don’t want to meet, nor get baptized. It came as a complete surprise. We went to go visit our other investigator with a baptism date and they confessed they haven’t been reading or praying for months. There are times like these when your heart just breaks. You give these people your whole heart and soul, love them, pray for them everyday and think of ways how you can make their life better. Sometimes, they just aren’t willing to commit right now. During this week, one of my favorite quotes came to mind from Jeffery R. Holland. “Dont you quit. You keep walking. You keep trying. There is help and happiness ahead. Some blessings come soon, some come late and some don’t come until heaven. But for those who embrace the Gospel of Jesus Christ they come. It will be alright in the end. Trust God and believe in good things to come.”

I do know that good things are coming and we have already seen many blessings this week. I am so grateful for opposition because without it we would never progress. I am grateful for my loving Savior, who loved us enough to die for us. That with all my weaknesses and shortcomings, He still loves me.

I hope you all have a wonderful week. Don’t forget to do something nice for someone else. Don’t you quit. Keep trusting in our Heavenly Father. Everything will be alright.

I love you all.

Sok szeretettel, Whittaker Nővér

SHOUTOUT to my best friend, Kat Coates who got married this week. I love you.

Hello Friends and Family,

This weeks letter will be short because we don’t have much time, but I have to say it’s been one of the craziest, busiest weeks here in Kecskemét. We saw many miracles this week as well as hardships. This week we were able to meet with a women we met on the street last week. She lived in New York for about 14 years and speaks English almost fluently. She had heard crazy things about Mormons and one of them was that Mormon’s can’t swim. We were able to answer all her questions, taught her about the restoration and reassured her that yes, Mormons can actually swim.

Thanks to Andras for taking us out last week, and for sending some great pictures!
We are meeting with a family that has committed to be baptized in September. They are such a special family and you can see the light and happiness in their eyes when we bring up baptism. They came to church this Sunday all three hours and seemed to love it.

I want you all to know how much I love this Gospel. Tomorrow I only have 100 days left on my mission. It honestly does not seem real and I wish I could continue being a full time missionary for the rest of my life here in Hungary. I love the people of Hungary and I feel so blessed to have lived and served here. My testimony has grown in ways I never thought it would. The Lord asks so little of us, and yet gives us everything. I know God loves us and is aware of us. I know he knows us by name and knows how to help us. I know this Gospel is true.

I hope you all have a wonderful week. Remember to live each moment in the present. Love each and every moment because you will never get it back. God bless you all.
