Hello friends and family!

Happy Halloween! It was a wonderful, exciting week here in good ol’e Szolnok! We went up to Budapest for “greeny” training and we got a wonderful training from the AP’s, and from President and Sister Szabadkai. After we hopped on the train and headed to Kecskemét for splits with the STL’s. It was great to be back in that beautiful city, seeing some of my old investigators and meeting the members. I felt so lucky to serve again with the one and only, Sister Sholly. We started off the morning with a nice morning run, and had all kinds of programs planned for the day. We were able to set up for an upcoming wedding and we made over 600 chocolate balls. Love was definitely in the air.

We had a great program with one of our investigators who is a 65 year old fisherman. He has the sweetest heart and a rockin’ ponytail. During our program, we felt impressed to ask him to be baptized. He said YES! “I guess I’ll get dunked…can I trust they’ll pull me back up?” What was even more special was to see him walk through the chapel doors to come to church. He showed up in the cutest fisherman outfit, with his fisherman’s hat.

This week, all of the missionaries and a few members put together the perfect Halloween party, since they don’t celebrate it here. We provided food and treats, scary decorations, carved pumpkins, bobbed for apples and played all kinds of games. To top the night off, the elders set up a “haunted house” in a cellar in the pitch dark, having to dig for bones with only a few candles for light. It was a big hit and everybody loved it.

During November 1st, the Hungarians celebrate a holiday called Halottak Napja, All Souls Day. It is a holiday in remembrance of their loved ones who have passed away and they go and decorate their graves. I recommend everyone to look up pictures. It is beautiful. On Sunday, we spent the night walking through the cemetery looking at all the beautifully decorated graves and crypts. I am so grateful I have the knowledge that families are eternal, and after this life it’s not the end. We can be with our families, and the people we love forever!
